Little Rock Ousted by No. 2 Mississippi State

STARKVILLE, Miss.- Little Rock started off hot in the first inning of Tuesday night's contest at No. 2 Mississippi State, but the Bulldogs would rally for 15 unanswered runs to grab a 15-4 victory.

Table-setters Christian Reyes, Ryan Benavidez and Garrett Scott all reached base to load the bases with no outs to start the game. James Gann got the big hit in the top of the first inning with a blast over the center fielder's head to clear the bases. Chase Coker then plated Gann by taking one for the team with a hit-by-pitch to make the score 4-0.

The hosts would answer in the bottom half of the inning by pushing four runs across to tie the score 4-4. Mississippi State then added another run in the second to eventually take the lead.

After two scoreless innings from both teams, the Bulldogs began to break things open by scoring 10 runs over the fifth and sixth innings to take a commanding 15-4 lead. The Mississippi State bats were lively on the night, but some defensive miscues plagued the Trojans.

Ethan Daily would be charged with the loss and fall to 0-2 on the season.

Little Rock will be back in action this weekend for a three-game set with Georgia Southern starting Friday, March 22 in Statesboro, Ga.
